Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes that Roberto Di Matteo did not deserve to be sacked from his position at Chelsea.
The current Champions League holders decided to part company with the former West Bromwich Albion coach this morning following the Blues' 3-0 defeat to Juventus last night.
"It's astonishing really," said Pardew. "It just goes to show you how precarious we are as Premier League managers. We can't take anything for granted.
"As far as I'm concerned he's done absolutely nothing wrong. The philosophy was to perhaps change the look of the team which he's tried to do and that doesn't happen overnight. He's won two competitions in less than a year so it's unbelievable."
Di Matteo clinched the FA Cup and the Champions League trophy with the West London club last season.
