Report: Chelsea to return for Luke Shaw

Chelsea identify Southampton's Luke Shaw as the long-term successor to Ashley Cole and plan to bid £10m for the full-back in the summer.

Chelsea will reportedly make a swoop for highly-rated Southampton full-back Luke Shaw at the end of the season.

The Blues have apparently identified the 17-year-old as a long-term replacement for Ashley Cole, who signed a 12-month contract extension at Stamford Bridge in January.

England Under-21 international Shaw has impressed in his 17 Premier League appearances for the Saints this campaign.

According to the Daily Mail Chelsea had a bid rejected for Shaw in the winter window, but are confident of landing him with an improved £10m summer offer.

Ryan Bertrand is the current understudy to Cole and has made 30 appearances for the European Champions this term.
