Report: Real Madrid target Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso

A report suggests that Chelsea's Marcos Alonso is wanted by former club Real Madrid, eight years after leaving the Spanish capital.

Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui is reportedly interested in signing Marcos Alonso from Chelsea to help strengthen his backline.

Los Blancos have already spent big to bring in right-back Alvaro Odriozola during the summer and now intend to strengthen on the opposite flank.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claims that Alonso has been pinpointed as a solution to Madrid's leaky defence, while also boasting the ability to score crucial goals.

The 27-year-old started his career with Madrid but made just a single appearance for the La Liga giants before moving to Bolton Wanderers, Fiorentina and then Chelsea, where he has thrived in a wing-back role over the past two seasons.

However, the report suggests that the Blues will knock back Madrid's approach as they are unable to bring in a replacement.
