Alan Pardew 'to sign four-year contract with Crystal Palace'

Alan Pardew will reportedly sign a four-year contract to become Crystal Palace's new manager after being given permission by Newcastle United to speak to the club.

Alan Pardew will reportedly earn a significant pay rise when he puts pen to paper on a contract with Crystal Palace.

The 53-year-old was given permission to talk to officials at Selhurst Park by current club Newcastle United after both Premier League outfits agreed on a compensation fee.

According to the Daily Star, Pardew is due to sign a four-year contract worth £2.5m per year, which is a £1m-a-year rise on his current terms at St James' Park.

Reports have claimed that Newcastle owner Mike Ashley accepted a compensation fee of £2.5m, which is half of the original figure, from Palace after learning of Pardew's desire to leave the North-East club.

The former West Ham United and Southampton boss, who spent four years at Palace during his playing career, became the Eagles' number one target after the club parted company with Neil Warnock on Saturday.
