Tony Pulis: 'Crystal Palace will be sensible in transfer market'

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis insists that it is crucial for the club to be sensible in the transfer market this summer.

Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has insisted that the club will be careful in the transfer market if they avoid relegation this season.

Pulis believes that it would not be wise for Palace to spend too much on new recruits, and insists that he is only focused on his current squad with six games remaining in their Premier League campaign.

"There are a lot of clubs who have got promoted, thrown a lot of money at it and then got relegated and fallen on hard times and never recovered," the former Stoke City boss told reporters.

"Have a look at the Championship and the amount of clubs who have spent time in the Premier League. You've got to be very careful.

"I have to concentrate on staying up and all my thoughts are with that, but then it is sitting down with the chairman and the board of directors and talking about the football club and see what way they want to go forward."

Palace, who are currently 16th, face Cardiff City on Saturday.
