Report: Crystal Palace preparing Fabricio Coloccini move

Crystal Palace are ready to launch a bid for Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini to boost their backline for next season, according to a report.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew is reportedly prepared to launch a move to sign Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini.

The Argentine played under Pardew for four years at St James' Park before the 54-year-old left the club to join the Eagles in January.

Pardew now wants the centre-back to join him at Palace as Coloccini faces an uncertain future with the Magpies following the arrival of Steve McClaren as manager and impending signing of Chancel Mbemba from Anderlecht.

The defender has been struggling with an Achilles injury during pre-season, but Pardew is keen to add the 33-year-old to bolster his side's options at the back, reports The People.

Coloccini joined Newcastle in 2008 from Deportivo La Coruna.
