Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin admits that he needs to start scoring more goals if he is to take himself to "the next level".

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has confessed to being 'frustrated' by Everton's inability to overcome Brighton & Hove Albion after squandering key chances.

The Toffees once again struggled in front of goal at the Amex Stadium on Sunday, relying on a Wayne Rooney penalty in added time to get them off the mark and earn a 1-1 draw.

Five goals in eight Premier League games is all Everton have to show for their attacking efforts in the opening two months of the season - a record which Calvert-Lewin admits he and his teammates must improve on if they are to start picking up wins.

"It was frustrating when we'd had chances - and I should have scored - that Brighton went and nicked one," The Mirror quotes him as saying. "I had a couple of chances and was a bit frustrated not to score.

"I'm getting a lot of chances in games. I want to take myself to the next level now and I need to start putting those away. We showed more character than we have in recent weeks to dig in late in the game and we will take that into the next one. We are creating chances, and it's just a matter of putting them away now."

Calvert-Lewin has netted twice for Everton this term, with both goals coming in the EFL Cup win against Sunderland last month.
