Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell is close to a return to training following a rib injury.

The 20-year-old picked up the problem while on international duty for England during their friendly win against Sweden earlier this month.

"He has been for another scan this morning and it is showing that he is getting better," said manager David Moyes.

"I'm expecting him to maybe be back in training by the middle of next week, everything going well."

The Toffees moved up to eighth in the Premier League table after Saturday's 2-0 win at Bolton Wanderers.
