Galatasaray have claimed local bragging rights with a 2-1 victory over Fenerbahce in the season's first Istanbul derby.
The home side were ahead after ten minutes when Albert Riera's cross was headed into his own net by Fener defender Bekir Irtegun.
Fenerbahce responded well to the early setback and were level on 23 minutes through Hasan Ali Kaldiri, who aimed a low shot into the corner to make the match all square.
A set-piece proved to be the visitors' undoing once again as Selcuk Inan dusted himself off after being fouled by Cristian Baroni to take a free kick outside the area.
Inan curled an unstoppable effort in the corner to restore Galatasaray's advantage before the break.
Fatih Terim's side controlled possession when play resumed and came close to making the match safe late on when Felipe Melo beat two defenders before firing wide from close range.
Fenerbahce were unable to mount a response in the closing stages and slipped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat to the reigning champions.
