Steve Bruce has admitted that Hull City's first-half performance against Aston Villa this afternoon was the worst he has seen as manager of the club.
The Tigers fell two-goals behind with just 36 minutes played at Villa Park, and despite hitting back through Nikica Jelavic, it was too little too late as Hull fell to their first league defeat of the season.
"The performance in the first half was the worst I can remember in the time I've been at the club," BBC Sport quotes Bruce as saying. "For the travelling supporters who witnessed it, you have to apologise.
"I can't understand why we put in a performance like that in the first half. There was no energy, no spirit. We never laid a glove on them.
"In the second half, we changed it round, and we were excellent. But we gave ourselves a mountain to climb after the first half."
Next up for Hull is the visit of West Ham United.
