Hull City boss Steve Bruce: 'We will play much better in playoff final'

Hull City boss Steve Bruce insists that his team will play better in the Championship playoff final after scraping past Derby County.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has promised that his team will play much better in the Championship playoff final after scraping past Derby County on Tuesday night.

The Tigers lost 2-0 at the KC Stadium in the second leg of their semi-final.

Hull only made it through to the showpiece, which will be against Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday, thanks to their 3-0 advantage from the first leg.

"We're going to have to be better and we will be because we can't be much worse, but I said six months ago that it's the best Sheffield Wednesday team I've seen in a while," Bruce told Sky Sports News. "A big Yorkshire derby down at Wembley so let's look forward to the occasion and get on with it and then see which team wins.

"You've got to relish it and you've got to try. We know what they are, certainly we have to handle the occasion better than we handled it tonight and I'm confident we'll do that.

"It's a big game for both teams - the stakes are so high and everybody wants to get to the big lead so for us to be there is a great achievement."

The final will be held at Wembley on May 28.
