Hull City fans vote in favour of name change

Hull City season-ticket holders vote in favour of proposed name change following a ballot.

Hull City season-ticket holders have voted in favour of the club changing its name to Hull Tigers following a ballot.

Just over 15,000 supporters were eligible to take part in the ballot, with 5,874 choosing to respond.

The 'Yes' vote received the backing of 2,565 fans, while 2,517 voted against owner Assem Allam's proposed plan.

792 claimed that they were "not too concerned and will continue to support the club either way", and 9,159 opted not to vote.

The proposal still has to be ratified by the Football Association before it is confirmed.

The FA's Membership Committee recently advised against the move. The FA Council is due to make its final decision on Wednesday.

Hull owner Allam, who took charge of Hull in 2010, has repeatedly claimed that he will walk out on the club if his proposal is rejected.
