UEFA announce that Juventus have been expelled from the Europa Conference League for the 2023-24 season as punishment for financial irregularities.

UEFA have announced that Juventus have been expelled from the Europa Conference League for the 2023-24 season as punishment for financial irregularities.

The Old Lady were investigated for capital gains violations earlier this year and were hit with an initial 15-point deduction in Serie A before the decision was reversed upon appeal in April.

However, Juve were docked another 10 points towards the end of the season, seeing them finish in seventh place in the Italian top flight, thus provisionally earning a place in the Conference League.

Massimiliano Allegri's side will not be present in the third-tier continental tournament, though, as UEFA have banned them from the 2023-24 Conference League after concluding their own investigation.

Juve have also been fined a total of €20m (£17.1m), although €10m (£8.6m) of that sanction will only have to be paid if their accounts for 2023, 2024 and 2025 do not meet UEFA's Financial Fair Play regulations.

Juve president Gianluca Ferrero said in a statement that the club remains "firmly convinced of the legitimacy of our actions", but the Bianconeri will not appeal UEFA's decision.

With Juventus excluded from the Europa Conference League, last year's losing finalists Fiorentina - who placed eighth in Serie A - will instead take their place in the playoff round.
