Leicester City's most valuable players

Sports Mole takes a look at the most valuable players in the Leicester City squad.

Leicester City have enjoyed an excellent 2019-20 Premier League campaign to date, occupying third spot in the table with 53 points from their 29 matches.

The Foxes will be one of the teams desperate for the current season to finish as they are well on course to secure a Champions League spot for the 2020-21 campaign.

Leicester are expected to be active in this summer's transfer window, but it would be fair to say that the Foxes have some of the most talented individuals in the division in their squad.

Here Sports Mole takes a look at the club's most valuable players.

In truth, it is not a surprise that James Maddison is top of the list for Leicester with a market value of £54m. The 23-year-old has scored nine times in all competitions for the Foxes this term, leading to suggestions of interest from Manchester United. The attacker could soon sign a new deal with Brendan Rodgers's side, though, which might well see his value given another increase.

Youri Tielemans has also been impressive this season since arriving on a permanent deal from Monaco, scoring five times and contributing seven assists. The Belgian is second in the list with a valuation of £49.5m, just slightly higher than Ben Chilwell, who is thought to be a leading summer transfer target for Chelsea.

Wilfred Ndidi's presence at the top end of the list is also not surprising due to his quality and potential, while defensive pair Ricardo Pereira and Caglar Soyuncu deserve their high spots having both enjoyed strong campaigns.

Jamie Vardy has scored 19 Premier League goals this season, meaning that his valuation of just £18m is a surprise, particularly considering that he will not be 34 until the start of 2021. Harvey Barnes (£19.8m) has also shown plenty of quality this season but is some way behind Ayoze Perez (£27m) in the selection, which is a debatable call.

Goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic has only made four first-team appearances for the Foxes and sits bottom of the list, while the lowest-ranked outfield player is 23-year-old attacker Bartosz Kapustka; the Poland international has made just three appearances for the club since arriving in 2016 and is out of contract next summer.

Matty James, who continues to struggle with injury, is also down the selection, while Wes Morgan and Christian Fuchs are both out of contract this summer and are in the bottom four.

James Justin is also low with a valuation of £3.6m, but the summer arrival from Luton Town could be given the chance to nail down a spot at left-back next season if Chilwell leaves the King Power Stadium.
