Levante 0-0 Real Zaragoza

Struggling Real Zaragoza earn themselves a creditable goalless draw at high-flying Levante.

Struggling Real Zaragoza have given their survival chances a slight hope with a creditable goalless draw at high-flying Levante.

Xavi Torres fired the first shot on goal for the hosts in the opening 10 minutes, but his effort flew wide of the post.

Nabil El Zhar's chance was saved by Roberto Gago in the Zaragoza goal soon after, before Vicente Obarra was off target with his drive.

The visitors carved out their best opening five minutes before the break when Luis Garcia's header was gathered by Gustavo Munua.

Zaragoza had much of the better play in the second half as chances fell for Antonio Bentitez and Angel Lafita.

However, Levante nearly took the lead with 20 minutes to go, but Francisco Farinos's strike was blocked by a dogged Zaragoza defence.

As both sides pushed for the win, Franco Zuculini's effort was snuffed out before Helder Postiga's shot flew wide.
