Steven Gerrard: 'Norwich City game is massive'

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard urges his side to treat Norwich like the best team in the world ahead of next Sunday's meeting between the two teams at Carrow Road.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has urged his teammates to treat Norwich City like the best team in the world ahead of their Premier League meeting at Carrow Road next weekend.

The Reds retained their two-point lead at the top of the table on Sunday courtesy of a 3-2 victory over fellow challengers Manchester City at Anfield, a result that left them four games from winning their first league title since 1990.

Gerrard acknowledged that the victory over City was "huge", but stressed that the match against the Canaries is now just as important and called upon his side to show the kind of attitude that saw them beat AC Milan against all the odds in the 2005 Champions League final.

"We have to treat Norwich like we treated AC Milan in 2005. We have to forget what colour their kit is and the personnel wearing it and treat them as the best players in the world," Gerrard is quoted as saying by PA.

"We have to forget where we are and forget what we've done. We have to prepare for Norwich like it's the last game of our careers. Every game is going to get bigger and bigger because we are getting close to that last game of the season.

"Of course Man City was always going to be huge at Anfield because they are in the race with us but Norwich now become Man City, Norwich now become Chelsea, Manchester United - that's how big it is."

Liverpool have won 10 league games in a row and face Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United after this weekend's trip to Norwich.
