Steven Gerrard: 'Mohamed Salah greatest ever African player in Premier League'

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard hails Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah as the greatest African player in the history of the Premier League.

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has labelled Mohamed Salah as the best African player to ever grace the Premier League.

Salah has enjoyed an outstanding second spell in England this season, leading the chase for the Golden Boot with 24 league goals.

The former Chelsea forward has guided Liverpool to third in the table, as Jurgen Klopp's side aim to secure a Champions League spot for the second season in a row.

When asked if Salah is the greatest African in Premier League history, Gerrard told BT Sport: "It's a tough one. Yes, probably.

"I think you have to wait to see how he finishes the season, but if he continues to get goals and set a record, then you have to say yes."

Salah, whose first stint in the Premier League came at Chelsea in 2013, won last year's African Player of the Year award.
