Liverpool have included out-of-favour defender Mamadou Sakho in their squad for the 2016-17 Premier League season.
The 26-year-old missed the closing months of last season, in addition to Euro 2016, due to a failed drugs test that was later overturned by UEFA.
However, he was then sent home from Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States for disciplinary reasons and made available for loan during the summer transfer window.
Despite a number of clubs being interested in the France international, Sakho remained at Anfield and is now set to fight for his place against the likes of Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez.
Sakho had been told that he would not play a single minute for the club if he refused to leave on loan in order to prove his fitness and professionalism, but the centre-back appears to have been given a glimmer of hope by being included in Liverpool's squad.
