Simon Mignolet: 'Mohamed Salah perfectly suited to English football'

Simon Mignolet heaps praise on Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah, who he insists 'will not get carried away' by his impressive start to life at Anfield.

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has described Mohamed Salah as the "superstar" of the side and has backed his teammate to continue impressing.

The 25-year-old already has 20 goals for the Reds since arriving from Roma in the summer, reaching that milestone figure in the second-quickest time of any player in the club's history.

Salah has also successfully taken his defensive duties on board, which Mignolet believes is just as imperative as the Egypt international's quality in the final third of the field.

"He doesn't think about anything else other than his job and that is very important because, at the same time, he is scoring goals and can be the superstar but he is also working very hard to get back and defend," The Guardian quotes him as saying.

"We need that from our wingers because of the way we play and he does that. He is also one who isn't going to get carried away which is important in this situation. He knew what the Premier League was about from his time here before. He then learned and progressed away in Italy.

"He came back and he knew what it was about. He is very strong, not only with the speed he has got, but he is so strong on his feet you can't run him over. He suits the English style of play, so let's keep him fit and hope he can score the goals he is doing at the moment."

Salah, up for the prestigious African Player of the Year award next month, set Liverpool back a fee of around £37m to sign from Roma.
