Raheem Sterling eyes World Cup place

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling reveals that he is working towards a place in the England squad for next year's World Cup finals in Brazil.

Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has claimed that he hopes to be part of the England squad for next year's World Cup finals in Brazil.

The 18-year-old won his only senior cap so far for Roy Hodgson's side during a friendly defeat against Sweden in November.

Despite falling out of favour with Reds manager Brendan Rodgers during the end of last season, Sterling believes that he can boost his international chances with an improved campaign next year.

"If I can score more goals, contribute more assists and have a good season then hopefully I can make the squad for the World Cup in Rio next year," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

Sterling signed his first professional contract with Liverpool in 2012 following two years in the club's youth academy.
