Neil Warnock slams "ridiculous" Luis Suarez charge

Neil Warnock says that he would have been "tempted" to make the same finger gesture as Luis Suarez if he was suffering similar abuse from supporters.

Queens Park Rangers manager Neil Warnock believes that the Football Association should investigate abusive fans as opposed to punishing the players who react.

The ex-Crystal Palace boss's comments come after Liverpool striker Luis Suarez was charged with improper conduct following what appeared to be an offensive finger gesture to Fulham supporters during the Reds' 1-0 defeat at Craven Cottage on Monday.

"I'm not sure the FA shouldn't look into chants by crowds and fine clubs if [supporters] give individual players so much abuse like they did with Suarez," said Warnock. "I think I'd be tempted to do the same as what Suarez did.

"I think if you're going to get fined they should look into more of where these chants are coming from and finding the actual people or the clubs concerned, because I think it's getting ridiculous now.

"The chants that managers and players get and nothing's done about. Fans can do anything they want and as soon as a player reacts, they get into trouble. I think that's the standards that I detest."

Rangers travel to Merseyside tomorrow to take on Liverpool at Anfield.
