Edinson Cavani: 'Luis Suarez happy to stay at Liverpool'

Edinson Cavani insists that Luis Suarez is "loving life" at Liverpool following his failed attempts to leave last summer.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani has insisted that his Uruguayan teammate Luis Suarez is "happy to stay" at Liverpool, despite his previous intentions to walk away from Anfield.

The 27-year-old spoke out about wanting to leave the club and was the subject of two rejected bids from Arsenal last summer, but he has since performed a U-turn and penned a new deal with the Merseyside outfit.

Now, it has been claimed by Cavani that Liverpool's strong chances of securing Champions League football for next season have convinced the prolific striker to stay put.

"I speak with Luis most weeks, and he is loving life at Liverpool," The Express quotes Cavani as saying.

"When I speak with him now, it sounds like a different man to that of last season. You can hear it in his voice how happy he is compared to last season. When he asked to leave people thought there was an ulterior motive like a financial one, but it was not true.

"All he wanted was to be at a team which matched his ambition, where he could play Champions League football, and where he can compete for major trophies. Now Liverpool are in that place he is happy to stay."

The Reds are currently fourth in the Premier League table.
