Liverpool announce that 18-year-old striker Jayden Danns has signed a new long-term contract at Anfield.

Liverpool have announced that talented teenage striker Jayden Danns has signed a new long-term contract at Anfield.

The 18-year-old has risen to prominence at both youth and senior level for the Reds in the 2023-24 campaign, netting nine goals from as many appearances in the Under-18 Premier League.

In addition, Danns struck a remarkable five goals from just three appearances in the FA Youth Cup and has also excelled at Under-21 level, with two goals and two assists from four games in the Premier League 2.

Thanks to his incredible feats in the academy squads, Jurgen Klopp fast-tracked Danns's rise to the first team, and the teenager has now made four appearances for the senior squad, scoring twice.

In between Premier League appearances against Luton Town and Nottingham Forest, Danns was brought off the bench in the Reds' 1-0 EFL Cup final win over Chelsea and scored his first two goals for the Merseyside giants in a 3-0 FA Cup beating of Southampton.

On account of his senior breakthrough, Liverpool have confirmed that they have rewarded the England Under-18 international - who has donned the red shirt since the age of eight - with a new long-term contract, the length of which has not been disclosed.

Danns becomes the fifth Liverpool men's player to put pen to paper on a new deal since the start of the season, following Ben Doak, Conor Bradley, Bobby Clark and Kostas Tsimikas in signing on the dotted line.

After recovering from a concussion, the 2006-born striker made the bench for Thursday's Europa League last-16 second leg with Sparta Prague, thereby earning a spot in a continental squad for the first time at senior level.

Danns was an unused substitute as Liverpool thumped the Czech champions 6-1 at Anfield, which sealed an 11-2 aggregate success on the back of last week's 5-1 first-leg annihilation in Prague.

Cody Gakpo struck a brace for the Reds alongside efforts from Darwin Nunez, Dominik Szoboszlai, Mohamed Salah and Clark, the latter opening his account for Liverpool at 19 years of age.

However, Clark was then brought off with an ankle injury midway through the second half, which Klopp - who brought on fellow academy starlet Mateusz Musialowski for his debut - conceded he was slightly worried about after the game.

The Reds, who will discover their Europa League quarter-final opponents on Friday lunchtime, are now gearing up for Sunday's tantalising FA Cup quarter-final with Manchester United at Old Trafford, their final fixture before the international break.
