Mainz 05 see off Freiburg

Mainz beat Freiburg 2-0 in the Bundesliga to move up to seventh place in the table..

Mainz 05 have registered a comfortable 2-0 win against Freiburg in the Bundesliga.

The game had a very tentative start, although the hosts were just about the better side in the opening 10 minutes with Shinji Okazaki winning a few free kicks.

The home side started to resort to shots from distance, with both Johannes Geis and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting having efforts blocked from just outside the box.

Then, midway through the half Christoph Moritz found Park Joo-Hoo, who fired a shot high into the net from outside the box to give the hosts a lead.

There were few further chances in the game, and in the end it was Koo Ja-Cheol, who wrapped up the points with a powerful finish from a Johannes Geis free kick.
