Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne admits that it is a "big honour" to receive praise from manager Pep Guardiola after his side's 4-0 thrashing of Feyenoord.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has admitted that it is a "big honour" to receive praise from manager Pep Guardiola after his side's 4-0 thrashing of Feyenoord on Tuesday.

Guardiola labelled De Bruyne as one of the best players he has seen since becoming a manager after he helped his side make the perfect start to their Champions League campaign.

Centre-back John Stones scored twice while deadly attacking pair Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus each added another as City went top of Group F on goal difference.

"Obviously that is a big honour when somebody talks about you – especially your own coach who trained a lot of unbelievable players," De Bruyne told reporters.

"I think in one way it is maybe a way to keep me under pressure to try to play at a level that I'm trying to keep but it gives me good pleasure the way we are playing as a team and it also makes me better."

Guardiola's side, who have now scored nine goals in two matches following their 5-0 humiliation of Liverpool, face a trip to Vicarage Road at the weekend as they look to defeat Watford.
