Gus Poyet savours "biggest" victory of his career

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet says that today's 1-0 victory over Manchester City is "the biggest" of his managerial career so far.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has said that he will enjoy this evening following his team's 1-0 victory over Manchester City.

Phil Bardsley scored the only goal of the game at the Stadium of Light to help the Black Cats move three points clear of Crystal Palace, and more crucially within three of safety.

"In terms of opposition, quality, world-class players, this is the biggest [win] of my career, so it's going to be a good evening without any doubt," Poyet told Sky Sports News.

"I don't know how my heart is right now. I don't want to check it just in case it's bad news, but it's going to be a great evening. I am so pleased for the players. They need to believe.

"It's easy to talk, we can say things and you can write but at the end of the day it's the players on the pitch who need to be convinced that this new way of playing football and defending is working, which is great for the future."

The Mackems have now won two of their last three games.
