Manchester City target Davide Astori 'set to join' Lazio

Manchester City miss out on Davide Astori as the Italian international is reportedly set to complete move to Lazio.

Manchester City have missed out on the signing of Cagliari defender Davide Astori with the Italian international set to join Lazio, according to reports.

The 27-year-old had been linked with a move to Manchester City, as well as Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Leeds United over the summer, but now looks likely to remain in Italy.

"Astori wants to come, and we're talking with Cagliari to find an agreement," Lazio's sporting director Igli Tare told journalists.

Astori has won seven Italy caps, but was not included in Cesare Prandelli's 23-man squad for the World Cup.
