Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez this summer, and the Citizens are prepared to pay the Spaniard's £27m release clause.
Martinez, 26, came through the youth system at Sociedad, and the centre-back has made 223 appearances for his Basque club since debuting during the 2011-12 campaign.
According to Marca, Man City boss Pep Guardiola is a long-term admirer of the Spaniard, who is also said to be attracting interest from Barcelona, Juventus and Inter Milan.
The report claims that Guardiola is wary of being dragged into a bidding war for the defender, and will therefore agree to pay Martinez's full £27m release clause with a view to securing his signature ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.
Martinez, who is a four-time Spain international, scored three times and provided two assists in 34 La Liga appearances for Sociedad during the 2017-18 campaign.
