How Manchester United could line up against Chelsea

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up against Chelsea in Monday's FA Cup fifth-round tie at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United will be hoping for a quick response on Monday evening when they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The Red Devils make the trip to West London on the back of their first defeat in two months, having fallen to a 2-0 loss at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday.

United lost a couple of key players in midweek and they must now pick themselves up to gain revenge on Chelsea, who won last season's final between these two sides through an Eden Hazard penalty.

Ahead of this latest high-profile encounter between the Premier League heavyweights, Sports Mole looks at how United could line up.

United will be without Lingard and Martial for the next few weeks after the pair limped out of the PSG defeat with a hamstring and groin injury respectively.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that he may therefore have to turn to youngsters Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes to pad out his squad, but neither player is likely to feature against Chelsea.

The main beneficiary from the Lingard and Martial layoffs is Romelu Lukaku, who should be brought back into the side on Monday alongside Marcus Rashford, who has six goals in his last 10 matches.

A knock picked up by Sanchez could curtail his involvement, however, meaning a possible 4-4-2 formation of sorts that will stay allow Solskjaer to include his favoured midfield trio of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic.

Elsewhere, Valencia and Darmian are still nursing injuries and Rojo is a long-term absentee, but Chris Smalling and Phil Jones will be pushing for recalls in the heart of defence.

Solskjaer must also decide whether to stick with Sergio Romero in goal at the expense of David de Gea, having used his second-choice keeper in both rounds so far.
