Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole believes that the club should keep faith with manager Louis van Gaal.
The Dutchman's first season in charge at Old Trafford will end trophiless after the Red Devils were knocked out of the FA Cup on Monday night following a 2-1 quarter-final defeat at home to Arsenal.
United still have Champions League qualification to play for, and Cole says that it is too early for the fans to turn on the former Ajax and Bayern Munich boss.
"Manchester United's aim is to get back into the European Cup next season. If they do that, that is progression," Cole told talkSPORT.
"A new manager has come in, with different ideas, and it is going to take a bit of time.
"Nothing is built in a day. It is going to take time to get them to play the way he wants to play and hopefully he can be very successful."
United are currently fourth in the Premier League table with 10 games left to play.
