Emanuele Giaccherini hoping for Manchester United upset

Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini is buoyed by Manchester United's defeat to West Bromwich Albion last week.

Emanuele Giaccherini believes that Sunderland can learn from West Bromwich Albion and inflict another shock defeat on Manchester United.

The Black Cats, who are yet to record a victory in the Premier League this season, will host the champions at the Stadium of Light later today.

Last week's surprise 2-1 defeat to the Baggies ensured that United boss Moyes presided over the club's worst start to a league campaign for 24 years, and the former Juventus man is optimistic that his team will spring another upset on the Red Devils this evening.

"They are the champions and it would be a very difficult game for us whenever we played them," the Italian told The Sun

"But they drew 1-1 against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday and Ukraine is a long way to travel. That can affect you in the next game.

"I watched their game against West Brom last weekend on the TV. It is not often that a big team loses two games in a row, but if we could win against Manchester United, or even draw, it would give everyone a lot of confidence."

This evening's game is scheduled to kick off at 17:30BST.
