Danny Higginbotham has been named in the Gibraltar squad for upcoming friendlies against the Faroe Islands and Estonia, despite the fact that he retired from club football last month.
The 35-year-old took to Twitter this afternoon to explain the reason behind his selection.
"For all saying how am I playing because I retired," wrote the former Manchester United defender.
"This is a promise I made to Gibraltar that I would play these last two games and help out the younger players and then afterwards if they want me to help out off the pitch then we can see what I can help with."
Wycombe Wanderers striker Reece Styche has also been picked, as have England-based Will Britt, Scott Wiseman, David Artell and Adam Priestley.
