Sergio Romero will reportedly become Manchester United's number one goalkeeper if David de Gea leaves Old Trafford in this summer's transfer window.
De Gea only has one year remaining on his current contract and the Spain international continues to be linked with a move away from the 20-time English champions.
United were believed to be monitoring Barcelona's Jasper Cillessen and Ajax's Andre Onana as possible replacements for the former Atletico Madrid stopper.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will promote number two Romero rather than signing another stopper if De Gea does indeed move on.
United signed Romero on a free transfer in July 2015 following his release from Sampdoria.
The 96-time Argentina international has made 44 appearances for the English giants in all competitions, although he has featured just once in the Premier League since the start of the 2017-18 season.
