Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has been named in the Scotland squad for their upcoming international friendlies against Costa Rica and Hungary.

McTominay's international future had been the subject of much speculation, but the 21-year-old ultimately snubbed interest from England to pledge his allegiance to Scotland.

McTominay, who qualifies for Scotland through his grandparents, has cemented a position in United's first XI in recent weeks with a series of impressive performances.

New Scotland boss Alex McLeish has handed first call-ups to six players, with Oli McBurnie, Barry Douglas, Jon McLaughlin, Dylan McGeouch and Scott McKenna also given the opportunity to impress.

Liverpool's Andrew Robertson, Newcastle United's Matt Ritchie and West Bromwich Albion's Matt Phillips have also made the squad.
