United offer new deal to Hernandez

Manchester United offers striker Javier Hernandez a new long-term deal at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are lining up a new long-term deal for striker Javier Hernandez.

The 23-year-old will be offered an extension to his current deal in the autumn, according to chief executive David Gill.

"Hernandez came on a five-year deal," he explained. "There's no re-negotiation clause in his contract, but we want to address it when there is no pressure with regards to that issue, so we intend to do it in the autumn."

The Premier League champions face Barcelona in their penultimate pre-season friendly tonight.
