Antonio Valencia still shocked by Sir Alex Ferguson decision

Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia reveals that he didn't think that Sir Alex Ferguson would retire at the end of the season and admits that he is still shocked.

Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia has admitted that he is still in shock about manager Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to retire at the end of the season.

The Scot will step down after 26 years in charge of the Red Devils and will be replaced at Old Trafford by David Moyes.

Valencia told The Sun: "Today, though, the dressing room is very sad he is leaving. We didn't see this coming but it is fair to say the boss became more serious after we won the Premier League title again.

"I never thought this moment would arrive. It never seemed real to me that Sir Alex would actually leave.

"It's not just the length of time Sir Alex has been manager or the number of trophies he has won. It's also the way he worked with the players. He is incredible - as I say, the very best. Totally unique."

Ferguson takes charge of his last game at Old Trafford later today when United play Swansea City.
