Arsene Wenger: 'Sir Alex Ferguson could come back'

Arsene Wenger hints that he would not be surprised if Sir Alex Ferguson decided to come out of retirement.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out the possibility of Sir Alex Ferguson deciding to return to football.

The 71-year-old Scot retired at the end of last season after 26 years managing Manchester United, but his French counterpart said that he may end up backtracking if he starts to miss the job.

Ferguson won 28 major honours before handing over to David Moyes, who has endured a difficult start to his reign at Old Trafford, with the Premier League champions stuttering in eighth place.

"In six months we will know more about [whether he will come back], you cannot rule it completely out," Reuters quotes Wenger as saying.

"It is difficult to take a drug for 30 years and suddenly get rid of it."

Ferguson also guided Aberdeen to 10 titles - including three Scottish leagues and a Cup Winners' Cup - during his eight years in charge between 1978-1986.
