Ajax attacker Antony is determined to secure a move to Manchester United within the next two days, according to a report.

Ajax attacker Antony is reportedly determined to secure a move to Manchester United within the next 48 hours.

The 22-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Red Devils over the summer transfer window, and talk surrounding a switch to Old Trafford has gathered pace in recent days.

The Brazil international was not selected for Ajax's Eredivisie clash with Sparta Rotterdam last weekend, with the Dutch club's head coach Alfred Schreuder admitting that the forward was not in the right frame of mind to play.

Antony did not train with his teammates towards the end of last week, with the forward seemingly pushing to join the 20-time English champions in the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

According to De Telegraaf, the South American has told the Dutch champions that he wants to secure a move to Man United within the next two days.

Man United are thought to have had an offer in the region of £68m turned down by Ajax last week, but the Red Devils are now preparing to place a fresh bid on the table.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that a five-year contract has already been agreed between the two parties, and the English outfit have told Ajax that they will soon make a new bid.

"Manchester United have communicated to Antony and his camp their plan to submit a new official proposal to get the deal done as soon as possible. Man Utd will do their best to sign Antony, total priority. Five year deal was agreed almost 10 days ago. Up to the clubs," Romano posted on his official Twitter account.

There have been suggestions that the 20-time English champions could bid as much as €94m (£79.4m), including add-ons, for the former Sao Paulo youngster.

Antony has started the 2022-23 campaign in strong for his Dutch club, scoring twice and providing two assists in three appearances, including one goal and two assists in two league fixtures.

Meanwhile, he has scored 24 goals and registered 22 assists in 82 appearances for Ajax since making the move from Sao Paulo in July 2020.

Antony recently said that he was "very happy" in Amsterdam but could not guarantee that he would remain with his current side beyond the end of the summer transfer window.

"No, to be perfectly honest (offer Ajax fans assurances that he would remain at the club), I can't. What I can say is that I want to come to the right decision with my family, business partners and Ajax, which is good for everyone," he told De Telegraaf.

"In the end, God determines my future. I am very happy at Ajax, I have a contract until the summer of 2025 and I will give everything for this beautiful club for every second.

"I wear the shirt with pride and from day one I feel at home. If we all decide that I will stay here, then I know that this is the best thing for me and the club.

"It's not like I have to leave. Now I am focusing on playing football and have put all other matters in the hands of my agents and my brother. They will advise me on what is best."

Man United have already made four signings during the summer market, bringing in Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro.
