Stefan de Vrij has revealed that Manchester United did not make a bid for his services.
The Netherlands international was the subject of much reported interest from United manager Louis van Gaal this summer, but De Vrij instead made the move from Feyenoord to Lazio.
Speaking at his official unveiling, the centre-back said: "Lazio were the only club that showed a real interest in me before the World Cup.
"After the World Cup, I evaluated other options but I received the best feelings from Lazio and I'm happy to be here. Several clubs contacted me, I don't think it's fair to say the names. I can say that Manchester United were not one of them."
De Vrij, who played in all seven of the Netherlands' World Cup games in Brazil, joined Lazio for an undisclosed fee.
