Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier is said to be open to switching to Manchester United this summer amid heightened interest in his signature from the Red Devils.
The 23-year-old has nailed down a regular place for both Spurs and the England national team over the last two seasons, primarily operating as a defensive midfielder but also having been deployed in the backline when required.
United were thought to have made a £50m approach for Dier last week, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has made it clear that his prized assets are not up for sale this summer.
According to The Guardian, however, Dier is said to be keen on a switch to United - a side he supported as a child - and is prepared to move to Old Trafford during this transfer window.
Dier prefers to play at defensive midfield and knows that he would get his wish under Jose Mourinho, whereas at Spurs he will continue to compete with Victor Wanyama for that role.
United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has skipped the club's pre-season tour of the USA with the sole aim of landing two main targets - Dier and Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic - and is willing to go as high as £60m for the former.
The prospect of a significant increase in wages is also likely to be a key factor for Dier, with United likely to double his current £70,000-a-week pay packet at White Hart Lane.
