Brazilian midfielder Fred insists that he is "very happy" at Manchester United amid the recent speculation surrounding his future.

Brazilian midfielder Fred has insisted that he is "very happy" at Manchester United amid suggestions that he has become frustrated with life at Old Trafford.

There has recently been talk of dressing-room unrest at the club, with reports claiming that Fred was one of the players currently unhappy under interim head coach Ralf Rangnick.

However, the 28-year-old has branded the rumours "fake" and insisted that he has never "expressed any dissatisfaction" at Man United.

"Over the past few days, I have read several fake news [stories] involving my name and other MUFC athletes. I'm not in the habit of answering controversial stuff publicly, but this time I will have to," Fred posted on his personal Twitter account.

"I just want to say that I am very happy here and I have never expressed any dissatisfaction and the possibility of leaving the club. Don't get misled by fake news. We will continue to work with great dedication to pursue our goals."

Fred has only played one minute of Premier League football in Man United's last two outings but could be back in the starting XI against Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Monday.
