Manchester United have reportedly been informed by Inter Milan that they will have to come up with an offer of £96m in order to open contract talks with Lautaro Martinez.
The 22-year-old has been in impressive form during the 2019-20 campaign, finding the back of the net on seven occasions in 13 appearances for Antonio Conte's side.
Barcelona continue to be strongly linked with a move for the Argentina international, who is allegedly viewed by the Spanish champions as a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez.
United are also thought to be in the race, though, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side looking to improve their options in the final third following the summer exits of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Inter have told the Red Devils that they will not entertain bids of under £96m for Martinez, who has a contract at San Siro until the summer of 2023.
Anthony Martial's recent return to fitness has eased United's problems in attack, while Marcus Rashford has now scored seven times in 14 appearances this season despite the criticism surrounding his form.
