Nicolas Otamendi to cost Manchester United £40m?

A report claims that Valencia will not allow Nicolas Otamendi to join Manchester United for anything less than £40m.

Manchester United have reportedly been informed by Valencia that centre-back Nicolas Otamendi will not be allowed to leave the Mestalla for anything less than £40m.

The Argentine has recently been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, with Louis van Gaal thought to be eager to boost his defensive options during the January transfer window.

However, due to the fact that the 26-year-old only arrived at Valencia from Porto during the summer, Los Che have insisted that United would have to part with the defender's buyout clause to secure his services, according to The Mirror.

Otamendi has made five appearances this season for Valencia, who are currently top of La Liga.
