Real Madrid have reportedly ended their pursuit of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.
The 25-year-old was heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu last summer, but a breakdown in communications between the two clubs saw them miss the deadline by a matter of minutes.
De Gea subsequently signed a new four-year deal at Old Trafford, but Madrid were understood to have retained their interest and were expected to return with a bid this summer should their appeal against a transfer ban not be rejected before the window reopens.
However, the form of current number one Keylor Navas, who was set to be part of the deal to take De Gea to the Spanish capital, has now convinced Madrid to stick with the Costa Rican shot-stopper, according to German news agency DPA.
Navas could be rewarded for his form with a new contract at the Bernabeu.
