Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel addresses rumours that he has held talks over replacing Erik ten Hag as Manchester United manager.

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has denied speculation that he has held talks with Manchester United.

The German giants announced in February that they would mutually part ways with Tuchel at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Tuchel has experienced a tough campaign with the Bavarians, losing to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup, falling short to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and crashing out of the DFB-Pokal to third-tier Saarbrucken.

The former Chelsea boss hoped that he could still claim a Champions League trophy, before those dreams were quashed by Wednesday's dramatic semi-final defeat to Real Madrid.

Tuchel is set to oversee Bayern's first trophyless season since 2011-12, but he still remains a highly sought-after manager in European football.

Tuchel denies reports of Man United discussions

A recent report claimed that Tuchel was leading a three-man shortlist to replace Man United boss Erik ten Hag ahead of the 2024-25 season.

There has been a suggestion that Man United have already held talks with Tuchel's advisors to establish whether he would be interested in the manager's position at Old Trafford.

However, the German refuted those rumours when he spoke to the media ahead of Sunday's Bundesliga home clash with Wolfsburg.

"There have been no talks with other clubs so far," Tuchel told reporters at Saturday's press conference. "That situation has been clear since February.

"There's nothing that I want to discuss publicly here and no decision has been made yet. I have to work that out with myself and my coaching team. So this is not a completely selfish decision. That will happen in the next few weeks, calmly."

Ten Hag at risk of losing Man United job

With Tuchel set to depart at the end of the season, he would be available for a potential return to the Premier League.

However, it is currently unclear whether there will be a vacancy at Man United, with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe yet to make a final decision over Ten Hag's future.

The Dutchman has experienced a tumultuous Premier League campaign, having seen his side pick up 54 points from 35 games to leave them in eighth place and at risk of missing out on European qualification.

However, he could still claim a major trophy before the curtain comes down on the 2023-24 campaign, with Man United set to face rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final later this month.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his position, Ten Hag insisted that he was unconcerned by the speculation when he spoke to reporters ahead of Sunday's crucial Premier League clash with title challengers Arsenal.
