Result: Middlesbrough 1-0 Brighton
Scott McDonald's first-half goal is enough to give Middlesbrough victory at the Riverside this afternoon.

Middlesbrough picked up just their fourth home win of the season by edging past Gus Poyet's Brighton this afternoon.

The home side dominated for large periods and will be disappointed not to have scored more.

Scott McDonald scored the only goal of the game with his fifth league goal of the season, midway through the opening half.

The Scottish forward pounced to poke home after Seagulls keeper Casper Ankergren spilt Joe Bennett's centre.

Tony Mowbray's side remain fourth, cementing their place in the playoffs, while Brighton also finish the day where they started - in seventh.
