Newcastle United midfielder Rolando Aarons has undergone surgery to repair the cruciate ligament injury he suffered last week.
The 21-year-old, who just recently returned from a metatarsal break, suffered the ACL injury in training and is expected to be out for the remainder of the season.
Aarons updated his followers on Twitter by posting the following message: "Successful operation yesterday. Now on the road to recovery."
A number of other Newcastle players, including Ryan Taylor, Rob Elliot and Tim Krul, have suffered ACL injuries in recent years.
