Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew admits that he is worried about relegation following the 6-0 defeat at home to Liverpool on Saturday evening.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has admitted that he is worried about the possibility of seeing his side relegated after the 6-0 defeat to Liverpool at St James' Park.

The loss to Brendan Rodgers's side was the Magpies' heaviest home defeat since 1925, leaving them five points off the Premier League relegation zone.

"Well, I'm worried, of course. You can't come off a defeat like that and the manner it was without being worried," Pardew told reporters.

"I'm not going to criticise my players, I'm not going to criticise the team in any shape or form on an individual basis. It was a collective effort and we fell down collectively.

"We haven't become a bad staff or a bad set of players overnight. But we definitely need to roll our sleeves up and make sure we make a really good fist of these last three games."

Sunderland, Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic each have a game in hand on Newcastle in the fight against the drop.
