Newcastle United draw with Pacos de Ferreira

Newcastle United draw in their pre-season clash with Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira as Shola Ameobi nets second-half equaliser.

Newcastle United came from behind to draw 1-1 in their pre-season friendly clash with Pacos de Ferreira, despite Fabricio Coloccini being sent off for the Magpies.

The home side took the lead in the 15th minute when Jaime Poulsen raided down the right and crossed for Caetano, who slotted the ball into the net.

On the stroke of half time, both sides were reduced to 10 men as Coloccini and Caetano were both giving the marching orders following a coming together, which left the forward on the ground.

A melee ensured between both sides, and referee Jorge Sousa responded by giving both players involved in starting the fracas their marching orders.

After the break, Newcastle found an equaliser as Shola Ameobi blasted a powerful effort into the top corner after latching onto Davide Santon's cross into the penalty area.

The Magpies could have won the game late on but Haris Vuckic could only head Mathieu Debuchy's cross against the post, as the game ended all square.
