Steve McClaren to learn Newcastle United fate today?

Under-fire Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren will reportedly meet with managing director Lee Charnley this afternoon regarding his future at the club.

Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren could reportedly learn whether he will be sacked as the club's manager as early as this afternoon.

The former England boss has seen his job come under intense scrutiny in recent days after a 3-1 home defeat to Bournemouth left the Magpies 19th in the Premier League table.

The club have now lost five of their last six league games to sit one point adrift of safety, although they do have a game in hand over the teams around them in the table.

However, Newcastle chiefs have reportedly had "crisis talks" about McClaren's role at the club, and Sky Sports News is now reporting that the 54-year-old is due to meet with managing director Lee Charnley this afternoon.

The likes of David Moyes, Rafael Benitez and Harry Redknapp have all been linked with the job should McClaren depart, although the latter has distanced himself from the role.
